JOB TITLE: Mission Planning IT Specialist

JOB LOCATION: Cannon AFB, New Mexico, US

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Mission Planning IT Specialist supports the Special Operations Mission Planning Environment (SOMPE) hardware and software configuration; this includes, but not limited to: Upgrade installations, revision installation, replacements, monthly updates, and virus protection upgrades. The successful candidate will be motivated; team oriented; and have a drive to make a difference in warfighting capabilities.

DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Perform initial on site analysis of software and hardware problems found by user

• Maintain and update Geospatial Information Services (GIS) servers with the most current National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) chart and other digital map data

• Maintain mission planning deployment kits for offsite use

• Maintain SOMPE fly-away laptops for daily use

• Perform system and network administrator duties on systems configured in workgroups or domain controlled configurations

• Support unit needs during exercises, daily training, deployments, and real-world contingencies

• Conduct platform and one-on-one application use instruction

• Conduct routine inventories and operational checks on Depot certified MPE systems

• Adhere to software configuration management principles set forth by the AFSOC Depot or other applicable agency

• Provide software maintenance in the form of inspections and tests of all network and user software prior to installation

• Produce customized map and imagery loads for users

• Perform cloning and imaging of media for issue to users

• Assist the site lead and component representative with advice and /or analysis as required

• Provide software and system expertise as local site subject matter expert on platform specific Mission Planning Environments (MPE)

REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Possess five (5) years mission planning experience

• Experience with Special Operations Forces (SOF) using automated mission planning tools in operational environments including the use of threat data, automated intelligence feeds, global positioning system devices

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience using Microsoft Operating Systems, to include Windows 7, Windows Server, Windows Media Server and Geospatial Library (GPL) architecture required

• Experience with mission planning software such as PFPS, SAMS ESA, and / or Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS) • Minimum four (4) years mission planning experience preferably in SOF Flying operations

• Experience with DoD mission planning/execution/brief and debriefing systems, specialized airdrop (e.g. JPADS), cargo or refueling software/systems, administering infrastructure support client and/or server systems both on and off DoD networks desired and/or operational crew experience required

• Demonstrated experience administering infrastructure support to mainframe and / or client server systems

• DoD Information Assurance IAT Level-II Certification (Sec+ CE required for continued employment)

• Ability to analyze/troubleshoot hardware, software, and Windows operating systems required • Knowledge of networking hardware/software over classified and unclassified government networks required

• Ability to apply computer security policy, procedures, and protective measures required

EDUCATION:
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience. DoDI 8570.01m Certification required (IAT-II compliant): Minimum Security + CE Minimum Security SECRET

QUALIFICATIONS:
• 5-8 years of directly related experience in systems administration and analysis.

• The work is typically performed in an office environment. However, contingency/exercise environments are part of the duties.

• Possible short term TDYs to meet with users

• Must be able to obtain a passport for OCONUS travel, if required

• Lift over 35 LBS
